Pepe Martí takes his first victory in single-seaters after a great weekend

The Catalan driver added two more podiums and won the second race of the fourth round of Formula 4 UAE, held at the Yas Marina Circuit, in his best performance to date.

The progression of Josep Maria Martí throughout the current Formula 4 UAE season is evident. The young driver improves every weekend, and reached the fourth round of the championship with the aim of continuing to grow, learn and achieve good results.

Once again, Martí's good pace could be seen from the first free practice session, in which he was second and showed his options for the qualifying sessions. The Spaniard remained at the top in both classifications and got third place on the grid for Race 1 and fourth place for Race 3. Regarding the second race, Martí qualified in second place, but a penalty to another driver put him in first position.

The first race was marked by the duels on the track. Martí spent the entire test fighting for the podium with the championship leaders. The Catalan showed intelligent driving, perfectly defending his position and attacking at the right time. The race ended with a great overtaking in the last corner that earned him the third position and the third podium of the season.

In Race 2, Martí started from the first position which he kept all throughout the start. The Catalan had to defend the leading position and managed to do so without giving it up at any time. In the last minutes and after a perfect defense of the first place, the exit of the Safety Car confirmed his victory, since the race was neutralized. Martí thus achieved his first victory of the season and of his career in single-seaters. The effort made had its deserved reward with this triumph.

Martí and his team decided to compete Race 3 with used tires, which made the challenge greater. Despite this situation, the young Spanish driver went from less to more throughout the test and came back to finish in fourth position. The chosen strategy allowed Martí to run the last race with the used tires from the qualifying session, which gave him a new opportunity to stand out. Unfortunately, he was hit by another driver on the first lap, what forced him to retire.

Despite the setback in Race 4, in which Martí was not at fault, it can be said that this was a great weekend for the Catalan. The pace has been at the level of the best throughout the weekend and this victory will always remain in his memory as his first triumph in single-seaters.

Next weekend, the F4 UAE season comes to a close with the final round at the Dubai Autodrome. Martí arrives wanting to finish the season with the best possible results.
