Pepe Martí achieves a fourth position in the "Champions of the Future" in Portimão



Josep Maria Martí shows a great potential in the RGMMC Champions of the Future event, held in Portimâo, where he managed to take fourth position and be the best classified Spaniard after a great comeback in the final.






The International Kartodrome in Algarve (Portimâo) held the second edition of the RGMMC Champions of the Future , in what was an event prior to the World Championship. Pepe Martí completes a positive weekend after gaining fourth position of the final classification out of 75 other participants some of whom previous World and European champions. The DPK driver managed to be one of the stars of the event and stood out for his fast recoveries.


The weekend progressed successfully after a difficult beginning. It started in qualifying, where Martí was unable to complete a full turn and was only able to strive for a 26th position. The Spanish driver, however, was able to turn the situation around in the qualifying heats. In three of the four rounds he climbed positions, finished in the top 10 and achieved two fastest laps. Whilst in another, he managed a third place.


However, the final round ended faster than Martí had imagined. After finding himself involved in an accident when placed in sixth position. Such result, ended with a 22nd position in the final classification of the qualifying heats.


Martí, therefore, started the Prefinal in 22nd position. In it, the Alonso Kart driver was able to recover after losing a few positions in the first lap and recovered all the way up to 17th position for the final race starting grid, where he would end a weekend with a great race.


A spectacular start in the final allowed him to reach the top 10 within the end of the first lap. From then on, Martí was gaining positions little by little until consolidating in fifth place during the second half of the race. His comeback did not end there and, thanks to a final overtaking on the last lap, he managed to take the fourth final position.


With this result, Martí has been the best spaniard of the event. The young driver was capable of exceeding professional drivers and previous champions of the World. The barcelonian continues to add experience and good performances in his career. His projection as a driver is very high and his sporting successes have positioned him as one of the great promises of the future of Spanish motorsport.
