Bad luck prevents Pepe from achieving a good result at Spa.

Despite brilliant starts, Pepe Martí was unable to finish either of the two races at the Belgian Grand Prix.

Several setbacks beyond his control left the Spanish driver without points at Spa.

"We're leaving Spa with 0 points, and honestly, it's a shame because we could have scored quite a few. We didn't have the opportunity. Now it's time to keep going and come back stronger after the break."

The Spa-Francorchamps circuit hosted the tenth round of the FIA Formula 2 season, where Pepe Martí was unable to score points after a series of incidents beyond his control. Additionally, Saturday’s sprint race was affected by the weather, with the race delayed due to heavy water accumulation on the track. Once underway, the Red Bull Junior Team driver managed to move from sixteenth to eleventh place, but a mechanical failure forced him to retire.

“It’s been a very unlucky weekend. We had the pace, but due to external factors, we couldn’t take advantage of it. In free practice, there were several red flags that affected us, and we couldn’t get as many laps as we would have liked. Then, in qualifying, we tried to do one more lap to gain some rhythm, but we couldn’t do it. A strategic error that I didn’t understand at the time cost us dearly. We didn’t get a good tow on the final lap, and we lost some very valuable tenths."

"On Saturday, we had a great start, gaining five positions, but then we encountered an electronic problem with the engine, which forced us to end the race early. We were left stranded in the middle of the circuit.”

On Sunday, with the track dry, Pepe once again made a great start, gaining several positions in just a few metres. He had high hopes of having a good race, but his chances were dashed after another driver hit him, forcing him off the track.

Following the Spa round, Formula 2 now heads into the summer break and won’t return until 30 August at Monza, where the eleventh round of the season will take place. Pepe will continue working with the team, Campos Racing, and the Red Bull Junior Team to approach the final part of the season with the aim of improving the situation.
